1. Add at least one synonyms table (com_san_synonyms_XXX) to your database by importing it through phpMyAdmin or a similar tool
2. Go to the backend
3. Install the component. Optional install module.
4. Access the component
5. Go to Maintenance and click on QuickIcon Add. This will add a quickicon to your control panel.
6. Go to User Groups -> New and create at least one user group, which will be assigned to every new user who creates a SAN account (default group). Note the default group's ID.
7. Go to Options and set at least these settings (mandatory):
Tab Users: set the default group's ID here.
Tab Access Control:
- If you want to allow the anonymous users to access the component set Allow anonymous access to Yes;
- Set the Stay idle period [in seconds] to prevent flood.
Tab Synonyms: set the Available languages field, add here the language codes XXX of the installed (see 1.) language tables, e.g.: en, en_large, bg, ru. If you add additional synonym tables, create the relevant language constants in the language files
8. If you have allowed anonymous users to access the component and to submit articles:
- Go to Payments -> New and add at least one payment form for article submission (Payment Type: Article submission)
- Create at least one category with public access (i.e. don't assign user categories to it).
9. Create at least one category if you haven't done this yet.

The component is now ready to be used.

If you wish you can install and configure the SAN stats module too.

Don't forget to take a look at the Domains once in a while as every single new domain, created by a user, must be approved by admin in order to become available for use.
