One user send me ane question about error message that cron send an email address where the cron output will be sent:

In php 5.2+ isn't necessary chmod 777 any folder to be writable. Why this error?

After an investigation made on the issue, found that the error could occur if the folder /administrator/components/com_3daggregator/cache is not created or has no rights to write.


How to fix?
- Create folder /administrator/components/com_3daggregator/cache
- Set permissions to 755

After this you will receive only: Import finished.
This problem will be fixed in next release of the component.

More recomendations for joomla aggregator:
recommended settings for option in every rss feed: Use SimplePie Cache is Yes
I recommend that you not use email notification in cron options of cpanel. In our component is option for email notification for every rss feed.

If you want to use cron email notification for other crons in cpanel use cron for aggregator like this:

is to not return output message to your email.

The folder /cache was created with permissions 755 but the problem wasn't solved.
Continue the same:

Warning: ./cache/80b2c1cbb004e3cebd436ca713acc114.spc is not writeable in /home/joinhost/public_html/autopilot/master/administrator/components/com_3daggregator/inc/simplepie/simplepie.inc on line 1773
Import finished

My installation have PHP 5.29

I change my cron command in cpanel as suggested above but the error now is:

sh: /dh/cgi-system/php5.cgi/home/joinhost/public_html/autopilot/master/administrator/components/com_3daggregator/cron.3daggregator.php: Not a directory

Any idea?

Pablo, can you provide the full command that you used for the cron and your php.ini settings?

Our script is tested on more over twenty separated hosting accounts and we can't recreate the same situation, that you are facing. It seems that your problem is rare. It is possible that your hosting has a specific cronjob settings. We need more information to reproduce the problem.

I have created the folder cache with 777 permissions, i have set in every feed cache on but i still get this error message. Could you help me?
i have php: 5.2.9

I thing that it gives me this error when it has no content to add... i think. Could this be it ?

Hello, what version of aggregator You use? This message is in email of cron or case is different?

Long time ago we stop develop the free version - Aggregator lite, developing of pro version is discontinued too.

All functions work unproblematic in pro, gold and in platinum versions of our Aggregator.
Next versions of gold and platinum are planned for joomla day 2010 in Bulgaria - 29-30 June 2010.

Hello. I have the lite version. I receive this message in the e-mail set from the cpanel from my hosting account. in the e-mail that i have set in aggregator lite i receive the report that it has added some articles. Now , what can i do ? Any help?

Remove your email (in cron in cpanel) and you will be not receive any email notifications from cronjobs.

I had this exact same error, it seems the simplepie uses a relative path for the cache folder, so that works if you visit the php file via a web browser, but not if you are trying to run it with php /path_to_site/components/com_3daggregator/cron.3daggregator.php

SO...if you edit the following file:
/home/realmo/domains/realmo.voterseek.com/public_html/administrator/components/com_3daggregator/inc/simplepie/simplepie.inc

and change ./cache to the absolute path /path_to_site_root/cache everything works great. Not sure how they can fix that other than using the /tmp folder for cache.
