Gmail Connection Timed Out Options

i only get connection timed out with gmail apps setup. i have setup my Outlook to download email and it works fine - below is my setup
[ssl://pop.gmail.com:995]: Unable to establish link to the POP3 server. POP3 connect: Error [110] [Connection timed out]

i have done https://www.google.com/accounts/UnlockCaptcha - still the same error

now i have tried www.google.com/a/your_domain.com/UnlockCaptcha

changed domain to my domain

if i try with mymail@mydomain.co.za and my email password - it tells me that: These characters are not allowed: @

when i just use mymail - it tells me my password is incorrect - what username/password should i use here?

I can't say what is wrong with your gmail account and password - try to change pass. The only one info from google about this is this link: Gmail Accounts Setup.

There is no problem in component. Switch on error reporting at max - if there is some error, we will send you php code update.

on the live site with max reporting i get no other error message - just the same

installed the component on my local pc for more testing and get another error

You need Open SSL extension enabled.
Open php.ini and add or uncomment:

extension=php_openssl.dll

Restart server.
Also you will need "mbstring" and "curl" enabled.

thanks - i have done it and it works locally on my pc - so this seem to point to hosting provider - i will log a call with them and see what they have to say about it

hi - my hosting replied and told me the port was blocked outgoing on their firewall - they have change this so its working now - thanks for the help.
