If I force Gmail to send as plain text it works but loses all the HTML formatting... If I send an email from my iPad the email is imported correctly with title and body...but maybe that's only sending as plain text as well... Let me just confirm I am not collecting the posted article from a Gmail account, but I am trying to send the email from a Gmail account? I'm sure I've read elsewhere that the basic version of Post By Email works fine with HTML emails...? Any suggestions why this is a problem? If it will work with the Pro version I'll upgrade (if I can?) - can I test it first? Thanks, Nick This post has been edited by Nwarren: Aug 17 2011, 09:17 PM |

Also meant to say that I get the exact same problem when using your test account mail.3dwebdesign.org...
Emails are collected okay, title is created okay, but the article content is blank. This only happens when sending emails from my gmail account... Thanks, Nick |

Nwarren, see last two posts here: https://3dwebdesign.org/forum/index.php?sho...c=414&st=20
In description of Post by email extension is described that not work with ssl encrypted emails and not support attachments like images attached in email. Why you have buy standart? Full version Post by Email PRO already have this function, support encryption, support attached files and more: Detailed description of pro version If you want to upgrade, say me and i will send You order only for change for upgrade. -------------------- Правила на форума | Forum Rules | How to receive support. 3D Web Design: Уеб дизайн, Seo оптимизация, Web Site Extensions, Oscommerce Addons, Wordpress plugins and Joomla Extensions. Full version Post by Email PRO already have this function, support encryption, support attached files and more: Detailed description of pro version If you want to upgrade, say me and i will send You order only for change for upgrade. I'm sorry you have mis-understood me...I tried to be clear. I am not using an SSL encrypted mailbox...I get the exact same error when using your own test mailbox. And I am not trying to include images, just basic HTML formatted text. I have read many of the postings in these forums and other material on your website and as far as I can see I do not need any of the "Pro" functions at the moment, so this is why I only bought the standard version. My problem seems to be that when I send an email from my Gmail account to your test mailbox (which is not SSL encrypted), the format of the email is not understood by your Joomla component and it fails to retrieve the body of the text in to the article. I understand that your standard "Post by email" component cannot retrieve emails from a Gmail inbox, but that's not what I am doing...I'm testing using your own test mailbox (as described on your forums), but there's something about the format of the Gmail generated emails that is not being understood by your component. I will try creating an email from another (non-Gmail) mailbox, but this doesn't really help me as I use Google Apps for various domains so am stuck with Gmail. If the pro version of this component can correctly read the format of Gmail created emails, then I will upgrade to it, but I'm not willing to shell out more money to find that the product still doesn't work for me? Can I test the pro version prior to buying it? I'll only need to test it for one day... Thanks, Nick |

This problem was discussed in last one year many times in our forum. Ignore all that you have been read in gmail - the true is that: Gmail just dont work without encryption.

Thanks for the quick reply...I must be mis-understanding you. I'm using your test mailbox with Post By Email...not Gmail...
I am sending emails to your test mailbox from Gmail, but I don't understand how Gmail's SSL encryption can have any effect on this? My Post by Email settings are using your test mailbox not Gmail...I have nothing set-up in Post by Email to do with Gmail at all... Perhaps the attached capture of my settings will help...? ![]() |

Okay - still confused by that but sounds like I need to try the pro version to see if I can get it working with that...
Please let me know when I can have a trial? Thanks, Nick |

Hi - any news on me being able to test the Pro version? Thanks, Nick Hi - tried this from my Hotmail account and from MS Outlook (using a basic SMTP server) now and found that the body content comes through from the email, but the formatting gets badly screwed up and random characters get added: This is what I sent: =============================== This is a whole lot of text, with bullets etc... BOLD and Italic
And centred text And REALLY large text... And times new roman =============================== and this is what actually appears on the website... =============================== This is a whole= lot of text=2C with bullets etc... BOLD and Italic BulletBullet = And centred text And REALLY large text... A= nd times new roman = =============================== Here's the actual page - http://www2.insideorchardpark.com/index.ph...s&Itemid=17 So, this is pretty much totally not working for me...I cannot write emails for my website from my Gmail account unless I use plain text, and when I use a non-Gmail account (eg Hotmail, or SMTP) it screws up all the formatted text. Can this component import formatted text from email? Is this working for anyone? Are there any known incompatibilities? This is becoming really frustrating...even more so because there was no way to test even this basic functionality on my website before paying... Please can I have some advice? Thanks, Nick |

Only in full pro version are options to strip html and others. We sale Extensions as is, please, read our TOS and GPL license. License and tos are also included: - in page of product in JED - here, in forum in part Rules - when you buy some product link is shown whith checkbox "I Accept Terms and Conditions" So, please, tell me if some of these texts are unclear and i will change them. -------------------- Правила на форума | Forum Rules | How to receive support. 3D Web Design: Уеб дизайн, Seo оптимизация, Web Site Extensions, Oscommerce Addons, Wordpress plugins and Joomla Extensions. You're absolutely correct - your product description doesn't say what types of email formatting it supports, so it's my fault for hoping it would support even the most basic HTML formatting. But then neither does it say that it inserts random characters instead. I don't believe the product does what I need, and I'm afraid the language barrier on these support forums is just leaving me more confused, so I'm just going to give up now. (I don't want to strip HTML I want it included!!) No doubt I've agreed to a "no refund" policy somewhere, so good luck with my money and thanks for the efforts you've made to support me. I've certainly learned a valuable lesson. |

We dont have "no refund" policy in any of these texts.
For me is not problem to send Your money back, but all is in my principles. If extension is not working we always send money back to user. But this case is not like this or i am wrong? Цитат But then neither does it say that it inserts random characters instead. Extension does not add any symbol to email, your email client do this. Extension do only this: What is in email body, this is imported in content. In exact way (like Post by email) this function work in Wordpress. Without extras, without stripping of html, without stripping of shits in email body (like these from microsoft word for example), without automatic changes in email body and other things. Options in WP are only 2: configure email and password and On/Off. And for me is always interesting one thing: How million Wordpress users use standart WP function "post by email" without extras that You describe here? -------------------- Правила на форума | Forum Rules | How to receive support. 3D Web Design: Уеб дизайн, Seo оптимизация, Web Site Extensions, Oscommerce Addons, Wordpress plugins and Joomla Extensions.
