Seo Links: Some Article/menu Blog Layouts Are Blank, problem when using Seo links pro Options

My website is: www.parexcellencemagazine.com and I running the very latest version of Joomla for 1.5

I am having an unusual problem in that some of my keywords which are mainly linked to menu items (either section blog layouts or category blog layouts) are causing some of my articles to appear as blank pages.

For instance I may be linking the keyword "golf for women" to the main menu (section blog layout) item "Golf For Women" but then when I select that main menu items I will get taken to a blank page. However the category item in the drop down menu underneath may work fine. (this is just an example to illustrate the problem)

In other instances all menu links may work fine after being linked from a keyword but some individual articles in the various categories will not appear and I get a blank page. However other articles in the same menu category will work fine!?? Very puzzling.

I have checked and double checked the articles and can find no errors in the code that my be causing the problem. Nor can I spot any problems with the menu items when they are not working.

To solve the problem I have to unpublish the keywords that are linking to the menu item. However in some cases unplubishing one or two keywords (but leaving others) solves the problem.

I hope I have explained this problem clearly but if not let me know.

Does anyone know what is going on and how to solve this. I am very happy with the component but due to the number of articles (nearly 800) I do not want to have to check each one to see if they wre working properly!

Joomla versin: 1.5.22
Php: 5.2.14
YOOSymphony Template version 5.5.11

I am using SEO Links on my site and this is your component which is causing the problems.

Most of the links and articles are fine but for some reason some of them produces an error.

Basically the problem is that some keyword links are causing a problem with some of the main menu links and articles on the site. I have had a look at the article that you have suggested and here are what I think may be error messages:

In adding keyword links I am mainly using the external link type to menu items such as section blog layouts and category blog layouts. The setting for the links are "first" occurrence and are limited to either two or four links per article.

Here are some articles that are not working as a result of keyword links going to the category menu under which they are published:

This article is published under The Luxury Market section and will not show up on the site due to a keyword link in SEO Links.

Here is another article from the same section - The Luxury Market - which also does not appear due to a SEO Link.

There are more articles that probably do not work but I don't have time to check over 700 articles. What ever solves the problem for these two will probably fix the other article with problems that have not been discovered yet.

Also some menu items will not load when some keyword links are pointing to them Here is a keyword that if I publish it and point it to the Cultural and Lifestyle section blog layout main menu item - it will not load and will only give a blank white page:

Keep in mind that seo links pro plugin have configuration also.

Problem number one: you have enter in filed: Description (HREF Title Attribute Contents) very long titles. This is not needed. THis is onli title of link to show user what is this. Place here short phrases.

Longer phrases will cost you more memory usage.


Problem number two: you have enter in this description of this Keyword quote. THis may be a problem that can make php to stop work. Please, dont use symbols ' and " in this description. We must fix them in next version of component.


Problem number three: your memory limit is 64 mb. You have configure in component over 50 keywords. If you want that all will work fine, dont use in field "Limit" big number.

Seo links is developed to help to rank in search engines big number of keywords. For high result in search engines use field "Limit" ONE.



Keep in mind that links from start of content is higher rated than links from middle and links from end. This is shown at picture.

If you use in field "Limit" number: 1 this will cost your server lower memory and you can configure more keywords.


Problem number four: You have installed many-many extensions in joomla. This may be a problem due to conflict between extensions and this will load your server.

I recommend you to edit other keywords in seo links and test again. We dont have 24/7 support, if other problem is present our developer will see in monday.

Just a few questions:

1. You are saying that I only have 64Mb and that this is a problem. Should I try to increase this memory and will it help in more than one way?

2. How can I increase it?

3. If I increase it can I use more keywords?

4. If I increase it should I set the limit to more than one keyword per page or is one enough?

5. The reason for this question is that you have made it possible to use more than one occurrence per article so what is the reason?

6. You mention that I have lots of extensions. I only want to use those that help the site so do you have any suggestions about what I should get rid of? :-)

7. Which has the most value - linking to articles or linking to menu items (sections filtering down into categories)?

As far as my extensions go I am only trying to use those that are helping me with the design/strategy of the site and so I think I need all of the ones that I am using!? But again if I knew hwich ones I could do without I would get rid of them!

Just a few more questions then I think I am satisfied with how to use this great component:

1. When linking to internal articles should I use the full url - http://.... etc. or just the internal link for example - index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83? Someone has suggested the full url is better - do you agree or not?

2. Should I use single word keywords or keyword phrases or both? The reason for this question is that single keywords words would increase the number of links whereas keyword phrases (two, three words or more) would reduce the number of links as the phrases do not occur as often as the single keywords.

Just one more hopefully little thing!

I started by linking my keywords to a menu items as "External Links" using the full url which I obviously now know is not the best strategy for creating link juice.

I have begun changing them to "Internal Links" to article as per your recommendation. However in my Admin are the previous "External Links" which I have now changed to "Internal Links" links are still showing as "External Links" in the Category list?

How to get them to appear as "Internal Links" in the Category list? Thanks.

Full end url (example: some-page.html) is best for use in seo links.

Internal link (example: index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83) are better only in case if you sometime change alias of this content item (or if you change url of this content item with some sef component).

In this way sef system of joomla will automatically rewrite url and right end url will be shown in content, etc. index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83 is automatically rewritten to some-page.html.

My apologies because perhaps I wasn't clear. What I mean is that once you have saved your keyword setting you then get the full list of all of your keywords in the Admin area. The list then has a Category lsit on the right hand side that tells you what type of link it is, either Internal or External.

In my last two post I have tried to clarify this issue. The links are working fine as "Internal Links" so no problem there. It's just that they are being reported as "External Links" (please read previous two post).
