Microformats rating extension for joomla is updated again. Now we can have Microformats in Virtuemart and Mosets Tree for all joomla versions - from joomla 1.5 to joomla 2.5.

Latest changes in Microformats votes are:

The next version of the plugin (ver. 2.0.0) has just been released for both Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.6-2.5.

The most important changes:

Common changes in the versions for J1.5 and J1.6-2.5

1. When installed, the plugin's tables are populated with the existing votes from the following components:

• com_content
• k2
• Mosets Tree
• Virtuemart

2. When a vote is submitted through the microformatsvotes plugin, it is stored in the relevant component's database too. So if you uninstall the plugin, the components voting system will reflect the votes' actual state (the votes won't be lost).

Note: This is not entirely true for Virtuemart, versions above 1.1.9, however, as it uses a voting system which is fundamentally different then ours.
The J1.5 version comes with the logic for Virtuemart 1.1.9. It works fine.
The J1.6-2.5 version comes with the logic for Virtuemart 1.9.8G. On install it imports the existing votes into the plugin with no problem. It updates the voting summary table in Virtuemart, but it might not be able to import a record for the voting itself in the voting records table due to an existing unique key constraint (in Virtuemart only the registered users are allowed to vote only once per product. MicroformatsVotes might allow all users to vote multiple times per every item.). So the updating behaviour in Virtuemart is disabled by default. If you want to enable it, go to /plugins/content/microformatsvotes/ and open ajax.php Uncomment the lines between 120 and 136 and delete the ToDo line.

3. In com_content and Mosets Tree you may disable the MicroformatsVotes on a per article basis by setting the relevant show_votes article setting to HIDE. You may do this in K2 when using the MFV in Joomla 1.6-2.5 as well, but it doesn't work in K2 for Joomla 1.5.

4. There are changes in the code for the Mosets Tree component, so you are advised to read the install instructions carefully. Basically now the MFV may run in Mosets Tree without the need to modify any of the MTree's core files. If you choose to do so (modify the files) you have to turn on the Modified MTree MFV setting in the plugin's parameters in order to avoid the display of the rating stars multiple times in the viewed listing.

Changes in the version for Joomla 1.5 only

1. The check_db plugin setting has been automated. The necessary tables are created and populated the first time the plugin is invoked. This function is run only once.

2. The MFV plugin now works in K2 too.
