Sean, component is tested and work perfect with based templates, included in clear joomla install. Try to switch to other template and post here result.

Same problem when I switch to another default joomla template.


When I click on Single Sport Event, it gives this error;

and also i want to ask, if when game is predicted as a draw (X) and it ends up as a draw, does the formula count it as winner predicted correctly?

Sean, is this with new install or with upgrade? Is installed the right version? Versions for joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3 are different. As written in our Support TOS, we don't have technical support in non business days.

i created one tournament then i created a second and unpublished first tournament, but pagination still there, and when visitor clicks on second page, it gets this error

EDIT - ok so basically if i disable games/tournament, pagination does not go away, and when visitor goes on to second page, it either shows blank or causes the above error. and then it stays stuck there, even if user refreshes or leaves and comes back, he keeps going straight to error/blank page

Yes, I did use Joomla 3 components from your zip file download. This seems to produce the results I've shown you.

It's also a full install, fresh.

is there some way to get months/days to be visible on my own language?

I changed all of them on language file but the one that is on the settings (Datetimeformat in front-end) doesnt allow local format (ie. %A %e %B %Y)

In the component is used "date" function: http://bg2.php.net/manual/en/function.date.php

If you with to use "strftime" then your hosting should allow use of "setlocale".
setlocale still causes problems on lots of hosting environments and because of this reason is not used.

I have found bug in Sports Predictions for joomla 3.x (Thanks to @michalis!)
It is fixed and package is available for download!

Problem was that when you un-publish category all assigned games to it will be counted as published in front-end when they should not.
Now game is considered published when is assigned to at least one published category.

To fix this manually follow this steps:

1. Open "components/com_sportsprediction/models/predictions.php"
2. Find around line 124

what happens if someone signs up in the middle of a tournament? or if someone leaves a few predictions behind? does he collect less points and have a higher chance of winning?

There is no defined winner! Lower score is for accuracy calculation for each game. PREF rating(proportional reduction in error formula) is calculated:

PREF_rating = (1 - wins_percent) * accuracy

In standings view you can sort users by any criteria or combination of them. For example if you sort users by "games played" bigger to smaller and PREF_rating smaller to bigger then you will find user who is played many as possible games with most accurate predictions. (Hold control key while sorting by second or above column)
You can choose winner by different criteria!
Default sorting is by pref_rating lower to bigger.

You can create different standings pages by modifying url parameters of page:

available sort cols are: 'username', 'pref_rating', 'avg_error', 'tot_error', 'wins_percent', 'wins', 'losses', 'games_played'

You can modify page defaults if you don't wist to use url parameters:

I have made myself some modifications for Sports Predictions component but there is something I cant quite figure out.

I would like to have all categories as invidual buttons/links instead of a selector menu. I'm trying to build a site with multiple sports, soccer, hockey, basketball etc and it would be nice to have some sort of filtering right on the front page.

Is there an easy way to do it?

You can control categories filter by modifying URL parameters on the page.

Example: /index.php?option=com_sportspredictions&view=predictions&sp_cats[0]=2&sp_cats[1]=3
This will show only games from categories with id 2 and 3

Parameter responsible for categories selected is "sp_cats".

sp_cats[0]=1
sp_cats[1]=5
sp_cats[2]=11
