The plugin converts a keyword to a link whenever it finds one, even if the specified keyword is in THAT article. One link may not be a problem (it might even be beneficial, though this is not proved), but linking to its own url multiple times WILL be considered as spam by Google. I have been an SEO consultant for many years so I know what I am talking about. Here is the problem:

For example, I want to specify keywords for the following url:

www.mysite.com/how-to-lose-weight.html

If proper on page SEO has been done, you will also include in it kws such as weight loss, weight loss system, weight loss plans, lose weight, how to lose weight, lose weight fast etc

And these are also the PRECISE keywords that I want to specify in SEO Links pro. Since I have done on page optimization around these kws, I would also like other articles to link to this url using these same kws. But the plugin will convert ALL these kws to the link going to the SAME article.

So, I will end up with an article linking to itself 5-10 times, which is definitely not good. Not only it is not good because of multiple linkage, but also because there won't be any room for other kws. After I have added more articles to the site, my pages will have dozens of links in the content.

But my bigger concern is linking to its own url MANY times.

So, to avoid this I must specify different kws in the plugin (kws that cannot be found in the text so as to avoid multiple linking), but this goes against the very reason we are using this plugin right?

I always use Google wonder wheel for on page optimization and would also like these kws to link to this article, but these kws are also found in the text many times and ALL OF THEM will be converted the url of that article.

The simplest solution would be to configure the plugin NOT to convert ANY kws to url where the keywords are found. In other words, not to link the article to itself at all.

Is this possible?

Yes, this is possible - to add exclude for current page. We add this option in next version, but not too fast. We have five extensions in progress.

For now for best results use:
- Occurrence: first
- Limit: 1

Thank you for your reply. I really think this is an important addition and without it I cannot use the plugin as my articles now have 10 links going to their own urls. This is not good. I have disabled the plugin on my site and will wait for the update. I know you are busy with other extensions, but when can we expect the new version to come out? I don't think this is a very complicated modification, but I am not a coder, so I will leave that conclusion to you.

dzinga1, we are deep inside big project for payments component for joomla that can integrate min. 4 types of payment atone place in joomla.

After this we try suggested by You possibility. I suggest that you download latest version of component (latest work in K2 also) and try him, but backup your version first - your version is custom.

Our developer say that suggested by You is possible, but will work only with latin characters, because of this update of component with this feature is not recommended.

Yes, i know that this is important. But too little users use our component only with latin, in JED are 2-3 free components that work with latin characters.


Users use our seo component because:

- this is only one component that support deep links and keyword in keyphrase converting to links
- this is only one component in JED that support any language and any characters encoding in combination with converting to links
